CONTEXT
The City of Trikala has a strong focus on expanding their current offering on services for their citizens using new technologies to improve their parking situation. The city is very eager to better understand the users behaviour when using the parking lots in order to gain strategic insights in the actual usage of their parking system.
CHALLENGE
The Challenge is to offer its citizens a mobile app that provides better services to the citizens through intelligent capabilities such as route navigation to an available parking space and an overview on parking occupancy throughout the city in real time. In addition, the city would like to visualize key insights through a web application. A dashboard that provides an overview on the available parking spaces on a map and that provides insights and interesting metrics on the actual parking space usage. This will help the city representatives to make strategic decisions in their urban planning, and to invest efficiently in parking infrastructure based on facts and statistics.
OPEN CALL WINNER
Gridnet emerged as winning bidder from the EMBERS Open Call and is developing the solution from scratch in close collaboration with Ubiwhere and the Municipality of Trikala.

SOLUTION
The Solution comprises a mobile app with the following features:
• Route navigation to an available parking space
• Providing insightful metrics for the parking spaces
• Capturing the actual routes taken to the parking space
• Visualization (in real-time) of available parking spaces
As well as a web application with the following features:
• Visualization (in real time) of parking space occupancy
• Dashboard for data analytics (charts, metrics, predictions)
• Smart insights on how parking usage affects traffic flows around the city
